Get Involved
Roothog Radio runs on passion — and we can always use an extra set of hands. Volunteering with us means becoming part of a community that believes in Honky Tonk, Red Dirt, Americana, and Outlaw country. Whether you have broadcasting experience or just a love for the music, there's a place for you here.
We're based in North Texas and have been on the air since 2010. Volunteers help with day-to-day operations, from assisting with broadcasts to supporting station events and outreach.
RootHog Radio has always been about more than just broadcasting music—it's about building a community around the sounds of Honky Tonk, Red Dirt, Americana, and Outlaw country. Since our early days, we've relied on the energy and dedication of volunteers who share that passion. Whether you're helping cue up the next set of tracks, assisting with live show logistics, or simply spreading the word at a local event, every bit of effort helps keep the music alive. There's no prior radio experience required, just a genuine love for the kind of music that tells real stories. We believe that the best radio comes from people who care about what they're playing, and our volunteers are the heartbeat of that mission.
Volunteering with RootHog Radio offers a chance to get behind the scenes of an independent station that has been championing underground and roots-based country music for over a decade. From helping manage the playlist to supporting technical operations during broadcasts, volunteers gain hands-on experience in a real radio environment. It's also an opportunity to connect with fellow music lovers who appreciate the raw, honest sound of outlaw country and the storytelling tradition of Americana. Many of our volunteers start with a simple love for the music and end up becoming an essential part of the station's daily rhythm. The work is varied, the atmosphere is laid-back, and the music is always worth showing up for.
Being part of the RootHog Radio volunteer team means joining a group that values authenticity, community, and the timeless appeal of honky tonk music. We're rooted in North Texas, but our reach extends to anyone who tunes in looking for something real. Volunteers help with station events, outreach efforts, and the day-to-day tasks that keep an independent station running smoothly. It's a chance to give back to the music scene that has given so much to those who love it. Whether you're helping set up for a live broadcast or sharing your favorite tracks with listeners, your contribution helps preserve the spirit of independent radio and the music that defines it.
